The moto g86 5G is the g56's older brother, and the difference that counts is not the price: it is the panel, which here is pOLED, and the fingerprint reader, which sits underneath.
It is a phone with a 349.90 euro list price that dropped under 200 quickly, and is widespread because of it.

The panel is a flat 6.67-inch pOLED at 120 Hz, 1220 × 2712 resolution. Laminated underneath sits the optical fingerprint reader: when the display is replaced the reader is replaced too, because they are the same part. It is the main difference from the moto g56, where the reader is in the side button and stays put — and it shows on the quote.
It has IP68 and IP69, plus MIL-STD-810H and a declared 1.2-metre drop resistance. IP69 is the high-pressure water jet rating: under the panel there is sealing adhesive that has to be redone properly, or all of it is lost. On this model, closing it back up properly is half the job. A note we always give, and it holds on any rated phone: after an opening the seal is restored, the rating is not. We reassemble with new adhesive and gaskets and the phone goes back to defending itself as best it can, but nobody reissues the rating. A different promise is not something anyone can verify.
The back is not glass but silicone polymer, what the catalogues call a leather finish. That changes two concrete things: in a fall it does not craze the way glass does, so a “broken back” on these models is almost always a cut or a deformation rather than a spider web of cracks; but during opening it heats and deforms far more easily than glass, so it has to come off slowly and at a controlled temperature. It is why nobody should rush a heat gun on a Motorola. The tray has a dedicated microSD slot, so here you do not have to choose between a second SIM and a memory card. The 3.5 mm jack, on the other hand, is not there: the g56 has it, this does not, and it is the most frequent surprise for anyone moving from one to the other.
