Repair service for Samsung Galaxy A36 5G

Repairing your Samsung Galaxy A36 5G

The A36 is where the A series stops being “mid-range” and starts to look like a flagship: over 2,000 nits of brightness, 120 Hz and 45 W charging.

It also has the component that changes how it is repaired the most: the optical fingerprint reader under the display.

Free diagnostics, and on this model we do press the point about part choice — the reason is below.

Galaxy A36 5G: under-display reader and why the part matters

On the A36 the fingerprint sensor is optical and built under the panel. When the display is replaced the sensor is replaced too, and after fitting it needs recalibrating. This is where poor parts give themselves away: a fingerprint not recognised, or recognised only with effort, after a rushed repair. It is why on this model the choice of part is not only about price.

The panel is a 6.7" Super AMOLED at 120 Hz that goes past 2,000 nits: a valuable component, and the part reflects it. It is worth spending, though, because the rest of the phone holds up very well and Samsung declares six years of updates.

Two things fewer than the cheaper models in the series: no microSD slot — storage is internal only, which makes data recovery a different conversation — and no wireless charging. In exchange there is 45 W charging, which runs hotter and over a couple of years tells on the battery.

Frequently asked questions about the Galaxy A36 5G

Does the fingerprint reader work after a screen replacement?
On the A36 the sensor sits under the screen, so it is replaced together with the display and has to be recalibrated after fitting. With a quality part it works as before: it is the first thing we check in the final test.
It has no microSD: can I recover data if it will not turn on?
It is assessed case by case. With no external card everything sits in internal storage, and recovery depends on what has failed: we tell you at the diagnosis stage, without promises.
Does 45 W charging ruin the battery?
It does not ruin it, but it runs hotter: over a couple of years the capacity drop shows earlier than on a phone charging at 25 W. It is normal, and the battery is a common repair.
Why does the display cost more than on other phones at the same price?
Because it is a 120 Hz AMOLED going past 2,000 nits, with the fingerprint sensor built in. It is a valuable component: which is exactly why the choice between original and compatible weighs heavily on this model, and we put it to you before ordering.
Is the display replaced together with the glass?
Yes. On these models the panel and the glass are a single assembly and are replaced together: there is no front-glass-only part.
