The iPad 9th generation is the tablet we see most often, and not by chance: for years it was the school and home iPad, bought in numbers and used by the whole family.
It is also the last iPad with a Lightning connector and a headphone jack, and one of the few where the glass can be replaced on its own, without touching the panel.
Free diagnostics. Before ordering any part we tell you whether you need the glass or the whole display.

On this iPad the glass with the digitiser is a part separate from the panel. In practice: if the glass is cracked but the image is clean and touch responds, often only the glass is replaced and it costs far less than on an iPad Air or Pro. If instead the image has lines or black areas, the panel is gone too and that has to be replaced as well. It is the first thing we check.
It is the last iPad left with a Lightning connector and a 3.5 mm jack. Both ports collect dirt: most iPads that “stopped charging” simply have a Lightning port packed with pocket or backpack lint. Before replacing anything the port has to be cleaned and retried — that is free, and it fixes the problem more often than people expect.
Touch ID sits in the physical Home button, not in the power button. The Home button is the mechanical part that wears out most on this model, and one thing has to be said: the fingerprint reader is paired to the processor at the factory, so replacing the button gets the click back but not Touch ID. We write that in the quote — you do not find it out afterwards.
