The iPhone 13 is the generation with the smaller notch and the most generous battery of the series: 3,240 mAh against the 2,815 of the 12. You notice it, and indeed it reaches the bench more for broken glass than for run time.
It is also the model worth a couple of words about Face ID, because at launch there was a problem that no longer exists — and the rumour has stuck around.

When the iPhone 13 came out, replacing the display disabled Face ID even with a genuine panel: the sensor was software-paired to the logic board. It caused a stir, and Apple reversed course with iOS 15.2, which removed that pairing. On an updated iPhone 13 Face ID keeps working after a screen replacement. We mention it because we still get asked.
The rest is a well-made phone that is worth repairing. The panel is a 6.1" Super Retina XDR, the same 2532 × 1170 pixels as the 12 but brighter. The front glass is Ceramic Shield and the back, as on the 12, is laminated to the frame: back-glass replacement remains the most invasive job of this generation.
The 3,240 mAh battery is the real step up from the 12. After four years it still starts to fade: if you have noticed you no longer make it to the evening, check Settings › Battery › Battery Health and bring it in. It is a common repair, same day.
