The iPhone 16 is the most repairable phone Apple has made so far, and that is not our opinion: iFixit gave it 7 out of 10, the highest score ever awarded to an iPhone.
The reason is a detail that sounds small and is not: the battery is held by an adhesive that releases when current is applied, instead of the old pull-tabs that snapped halfway.

The change that really matters on this model is the electrically released battery. On earlier generations the battery was held by adhesive strips you pulled out: when they snapped — and they did — all that was left was prying, with all the risk that carries on a lithium cell. On the iPhone 16 you apply current to the adhesive and the battery lets go.
The other thing is access from the back: battery, cameras and speakers are reached by removing the rear glass, without touching the display. On older models every internal job went through opening the screen, which is the most fragile and most expensive part. Less risk also means less cost for you.
Otherwise it continues from the 15: 6.1" Super Retina XDR, USB-C, Dynamic Island, MagSafe. The two visible additions are the Action button in place of the mute switch and Camera Control on the right edge — two more buttons which, like all buttons, may eventually need attention.
