Repair service for Apple iPhone 16

Repairing your Apple iPhone 16

The iPhone 16 is the most repairable phone Apple has made so far, and that is not our opinion: iFixit gave it 7 out of 10, the highest score ever awarded to an iPhone.

The reason is a detail that sounds small and is not: the battery is held by an adhesive that releases when current is applied, instead of the old pull-tabs that snapped halfway.

iPhone 16: a battery that releases with current, and access from the back

The change that really matters on this model is the electrically released battery. On earlier generations the battery was held by adhesive strips you pulled out: when they snapped — and they did — all that was left was prying, with all the risk that carries on a lithium cell. On the iPhone 16 you apply current to the adhesive and the battery lets go.

The other thing is access from the back: battery, cameras and speakers are reached by removing the rear glass, without touching the display. On older models every internal job went through opening the screen, which is the most fragile and most expensive part. Less risk also means less cost for you.

Otherwise it continues from the 15: 6.1" Super Retina XDR, USB-C, Dynamic Island, MagSafe. The two visible additions are the Action button in place of the mute switch and Camera Control on the right edge — two more buttons which, like all buttons, may eventually need attention.

Frequently asked questions about the iPhone 16

What does “electrically released battery” mean?
That the adhesive holding the battery lets go when current is applied to it, instead of having to pull out strips that often snapped. For you it means a faster replacement with far less risk to the rest of the phone.
Can it be repaired without taking the screen off?
For many jobs, yes: on the iPhone 16 the battery, cameras and speakers are reached through the rear glass. The display, the most fragile part, stays where it is.
Can Camera Control and the Action button be replaced?
Yes, they are components like any other button. If they stop responding or stay pressed we check them at the diagnosis stage and replace them.
Will the “non-genuine display” notice appear?
With a non-original part, yes, iOS shows that notice in settings. It does not affect how the phone or the screen work. If you want to avoid it the route is an original part, with the cost that comes with it: the choice is yours and we put it to you beforehand.
Will I lose the data on my phone?
Hardware replacements do not touch storage. The backup still has to be done: on a device that has to be opened nobody can guarantee you a hundred per cent. We still recommend a backup before any job, as a precaution.
