With the M2 the MagSafe returns to the Air, and for repair that is better news than it sounds: in Apple's manuals the charging port is its own board, with its own procedure, separate from the logic board.
A damaged charging port — the thing that on most laptops forces you onto the motherboard — is solved here by swapping a small part.
The battery is a standalone procedure too. Free diagnostics.

Apple's repair manuals for the MacBook Air M2 (2022) and M3 (2024) list «MagSafe 3 Board», «Battery», «Top Case with Keyboard» and «Logic Board» as independent procedures. iFixit confirms with a dedicated guide and a catalogue part for the M2 MagSafe board.
It is the difference that matters most on this generation. On most laptops a broken charging port means a daughter board or, worse, micro-soldering on the motherboard. Here it is a module.
Everything else follows the platform: memory in the chip package, soldered SSD, keyboard inside the top case assembly.
The battery is its own part here as on the M1: a collapsed runtime does not force the whole upper assembly.
