Same chip as the Air, but with a real fan — and one difference you only see when something breaks: here the battery on its own does not exist.
Apple's repair manuals for these two models contain no «Battery» procedure. They contain «Top Case with Battery and Keyboard».
That is not our opinion, it is how Apple supplies the part. Free diagnostics.

The difference from the Air of the same generation is sharp. On MacBook Air Apple's manuals have «Battery» as a standalone procedure. On the 13" M1 and M2 Pro that procedure does not exist.
The flip side is that the job renews everything else too: a new keyboard arrives with the battery. On a heavily used machine that is not necessarily waste.
Unlike the M1 Air, there is a fan here, and with it thermal servicing. We recommend every 18–24 months — our recommendation, not a published one.
Memory in the chip package, soldered SSD: platform rules apply.
