Repair service for Apple MacBook Pro 14" and 16" (2021 onwards)

Repairing your Apple MacBook Pro 14" and 16" (2021 onwards)

A legend circulates about these screens: that a non-original panel «kills True Tone» forever. That is no longer the case, and it is fair to say so.

iFixit documents that the problem hit genuine Apple displays too until the software configuration was run; and that recent macOS versions include a calibration that makes True Tone work with many non-Apple panels.

The substance is different: a display swap needs calibration. Free diagnostics.

Display, calibration and battery: two legitimate routes on the 14" and 16" MacBook Pro

On the battery there are two defensible quotes here. Apple's manual lists only «Top Case with Battery and Keyboard». iFixit publishes a battery-only guide and sells the single part. Which one makes sense depends on the machine.

The display story has changed. iFixit notes the artefact appeared also with genuine Apple panels bought through Self Service Repair, until System Configurator was run. It was never a punishment for a non-original part: it was a missing calibration.

Today iFixit documents a repair function in recent macOS settings, and that True Tone works with many third-party displays. Apple defines «System Configuration» as the post-repair software tool.

MagSafe is back and the rest is Apple Silicon. Servicing recommended every 18–24 months.

Frequently asked questions about the MacBook Pro 14" e 16"

Does a non-original display kill True Tone forever?
No, and the version circulating online is out of date. iFixit documents that the artefact appeared with genuine Apple panels too until configuration was run. With recent macOS, True Tone works with many third-party displays.
You quoted two different prices for the battery: why?
Because two routes genuinely exist. Apple supplies the battery only inside the top case assembly; iFixit documents and sells the battery alone.
Is servicing worth it on this generation?
Yes, because there really are fans here. We recommend every 18–24 months — our recommendation, not an Apple figure.
If the board fails, can my data be recovered?
On a recent Mac this has to be said upfront. Apple documents that the encryption keys are built on the chip's hardware, and states that internal APFS volumes «remain encrypted and are protected from unauthorized access even if the physical storage device is removed and connected to another computer». With a soldered SSD and a failed logic board there is no ordinary recovery path.
How long does it take?
It comes down to one thing: whether the part is already here or has to be ordered. Parts are ordered after diagnostics. When the part lands we work on it immediately.
