In 2018 the Galaxy S9 was Samsung's flagship, and the build quality still shows today: this is a device worth repairing, not one to throw away at the first fault. The 5.8" Super AMOLED panel still holds its own against many current mid-range phones.
Three faults come in most often on this model. Broken glass, because the front is curved and a corner drop goes straight through to the panel. An exhausted battery: 3,000 mAh after six or seven years of cycles simply will not hold, and that is entirely normal. And the USB-C port, which collects pocket lint at the bottom and stops making contact — often, before replacing it, a proper clean is enough.
On this model the front is a single assembly: glass and panel are replaced together, and there is no glass-only part. The back is independent and can be changed on its own, at a much lower cost. The Galaxy S9 ships IP68: after every opening the water-resistance seals have to be redone.
