For whoever opens them, the difference between PS4 and PS4 Pro is not the thermal material — it is how much console has to come apart to reach it. The iFixit teardown describes a large copper heatsink and heat-pipe assembly that must be removed entirely to get to both the processor and the drive.
The fan tells you about the thermal load: iFixit records a Nidec rated 2.1 A at 12 V — 25 W — against a noticeably smaller unit on the base PS4. No dust filters and no external vacuum ports here either. If your Pro got loud over the last year, statistically the fan has not failed: the heatsink has clogged.
The hard drive stays the simple part: a single Phillips screw opens the caddy holding the 2.5-inch drive, a 1 TB mechanical unit as standard. Swapping in an SSD is the highest-return job on this console, and it pairs well with servicing.
On the power supply there is a discrepancy we flag rather than hide: iFixit measures 289 W on the unit, other sources quote 310 W. It does not change a repair, but it is the kind of figure where we would rather say «sources disagree». Servicing recommended every 18–24 months.
